Adult Basic Education leads to Career and College Success

Adult Diploma Program graduates celebrate getting their diplomas
JVS is committed to providing integrated pathways from adult basic education to career education and training, and college preparation. JVS’ adult education program is responsible for eleven of the 40 Adult Diploma Program (ADP) students receiving a diploma in Boston this year—over 25% of the entire city’s graduates for 2009.

Two of the ADP graduates have entered JVS’ skills training program, Careers in Medical Office, for which a high school diploma or GED is an admission requirement. Additionally, three students completed JVS’ new GED track; four successfully completed a credit-bearing Bunker Hill Community College computer class offered at JVS; and five enrolled in JVS’ Bridges to College program, designed to lead into allied health certificate and degree programs at Bunker Hill.
