CVS is offering the use of their training Center and equipment by JVS staff to "pre-train" eligible participants with significant disabilities in order to help them become better qualified to be hired by CVS for the targeted jobs in their stores. The Center is a full-scale mock CVS store, with photo processing lab, pharmacy, and all of the store departments and equipment found in a typical CVS establishment; in 2008, more than 3,000 new and current employees will be trained at the Center. The CVS partnership will both open up strong job opportunities for eligible participants and provide those who become CVS employees with additional short-term, hands-on post-employment training offered at the Center in specific occupational tracks such as photo lab technician/assistant, pharmacy technician/assistant, customer service/cashier, and beauty aide/sales associate. CVS has developed formal career ladders for many of its occupations and is committed to helping employees build the skills to advance within the company.
