JVS is grateful for the support of The Richard and Susan Smith Family Foundation. The Foundation recently awarded $300,000 to the agency's Bridges to College Program, which enables adult learners to enter college-level certificate programs.
"This generous grant will enable graduates of our adult basic education programs to enroll in allied health courses at Bunker Hill Community College," said Jerry Rubin, JVS President & CEO. "The Smith Family Foundation's support will help students make a seamless transition from the realm of adult ed to higher ed, and from low-wage to higher-wage jobs."
The Smith Family Foundation was established in 1970 by Richard A. and Susan F. Smith as a private family foundation. Based in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, the Smith Family Foundation currently makes annual grants of approximately $10 million. The Foundation is committed to improving the quality of life in greater Boston.
The Foundation also provides opportunities for grant recipients to connect with new funders through donor forums. Held every 1-2 years, the forums enable grant recipient CEO's and potential funders to discuss philanthropic challenges, provide peer support, and strategize around organizational capacity building. JVS greatly appreciates the opportunity for others to learn more about the work it does, and looks forward to growing its new relationship with the Smith Family Foundation.
