Career Navigator

Jewish Vocational Service, a non-profit workforce development organization, seeks a fulltime, experienced Career Navigator. This position involves creating individualized job searching and skill-building plans through job readiness, job training, and education, to ensure work-required SNAP recipients are able to meet DTA requirements and maintain their benefits. Through both 1:1 career coaching and small group workshops, the navigator supports clients from diverse backgrounds, many of whom face one or more significant barriers to employment, in their efforts to connect with education, job training and employment. As a member of the CPN Team, this individual will also conduct regular, direct client outreach, usually via telephone, to educate potential clients about the SNAP work requirements and promote the services available to them at JVS. This position is located at 75 Federal Street, Boston, MA and may involve some travel into local neighborhoods.

 

The right candidate will have:

•  1-3 years of experience in the workforce development/career coaching/recruiting field with excellent knowledge of career coaching tools and strategies
•  1-3 years of experience in the workforce development/career coaching/recruiting field with excellent knowledge of career coaching tools and strategies
•  Knowledge of web-based job search resources and techniques desirable
•  Strong time management capabilities
•  Exceptional level of computer/technology proficiency including ability to complete online job applications and maintain accurate records of services provided in databases
•  Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills required
•  Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment required
•  Bilingual or second language fluency a plus
•  BA/BS in related area (Counseling, Human Resources, Psychology, Social Work, or Education)

 

Work hours are generally 9-5 Monday through Friday (full-time 35 hours/week). As a full-time employee, you will qualify for medical and dental insurance, 403(b), short and long term disability and life insurance plans. A robust paid time off plan is also part of the offering. This position requires attending occasional off-site meetings with partner organizations in and around the greater Boston area.
