JVS Bridges to College students holding up their graduation certificates

Prepare for College and a Career

Do you want to earn a college degree? Bridges to College and Careers prepares you not just for college success, but supports you during your job search and continues to be your resource as you advance in your career. Instructors will ensure that you are academically ready for college, while academic coaches help you through the college application and financial aid process, and a career coach will help you find a job after graduation. This program is at no cost to students!

Bridges to College and Careers has helped over 850 students improve their academic skills and enroll in college. Our next Bridges to College and Careers session will be starting in January 2020, and information sessions are happening every Monday and Friday! Program Tracks:

We have three college prep programs open: Biotechnology,  Information Technology for Healthcare (HIT), and General Studies, as well as our pre-Bridges program English for Academic Success. All of our programs are 23 weeks long and offer academic, career, and financial coaching, as well as a smooth transition to either Bunker Hill Community College or Quincy College:

Biotechnology prepares students for a career working in Biotechnology doing lab research, manufacturing, and quality control. Classes are part time in the evening. After JVS, students enroll at Quincy College in their yearlong Biotechnology and Good Manufacturing Practices Certificate program.

Information Technology for Healthcare (HIT) prepares students for a career in tech support, repairing computers and helping with computer software problems either inside or outside of a medical setting. Classes are part-time in the morning. After JVS, students in HIT transition to Bunker Hill Community College for a one year program in Health Information Technology.

General Studies provides students with two for-credit college classes and academic support, prior to transitioning to Bunker Hill Community College, where they can study in the program of their choosing. We are particularly excited to announce a new Business Concentration as part of the General Studies pathway, which will provide additional support and hands-on learning for those interested in a career in accounting, finance, management, or entrepreneurship.
