Meet Our Honoree: Abby Flam

Abby Flam moved to Boston to attend Jackson College/Tufts University. She then received her MCP, City Planning from Harvard, with a focus on health planning. She has been a health care administrator, consultant, and planner for academic medical centers, community hospitals and health centers, and our city and state government. Abby spent the bulk of her career advancing strategic programs and facility development, focusing on community access and patient-centered care. Abby brings tremendous strength in relationship management and partnership to all her work.
As a parent of three and grandparent to five, Abby has long promoted the values of social justice and service, particularly to underserved and often overlooked urban populations. This includes volunteering and serving on several Boards, including Community (HIV) Research Initiative, JALSA, Jewish Community Relations Council, CJP’s Caring & Social Justice Commission, Temple Emanuel in Newton, and the Greater Boston Interfaith Coalition.
JVS embodies Abby’s deep commitments by recognizing the dignity of everyone by preparing people to do meaningful work in quality settings. Over her years of service, Abby has led JVS committees and served as the Board Chair, learning from others while sharing her outstanding leadership experience with JVS. Her continued involvement truly expresses her commitment to social justice, her Jewish values, and the importance of offering one’s knowledge, time, resources and skills to an organization like JVS.
