JVS’s Approach
Consistent with our mission, we partner with coalitions and organizations who advocate for positive changes that have a direct impact on our clients’ ability to find and grow meaningful careers. We do not lead efforts, but instead contribute our unique workforce development perspective to key issues led by experts and amplify those efforts through our community of professionals, volunteers, and supporters. We write letters of support and provide testimony rooted in the stories of our clients, the daily efforts of our staff, and the expert research of our leaders.
Coalitions are encouraged to reach out for support, testimony, or sign-on. Our public policy advocacy committee, made up of board members, volunteers, and staff, carefully evaluates each request. Using our established rubric, we focus our action on requests that most closely align with our mission and is within our capacity to make a meaningful contribution. Based on the lived experiences of our clients, we’ve identified childcare, income supports, and transportation as areas of particular importance for ensuring access to work.
Our goal is to act as a conduit between coalitions and our community. By vetting requests against our mission, we curate tailored action alerts for our professionals, volunteers, and supporters. These action alerts cut through the noise to ensure advocacy is amplified and to maximize the benefit to our clients.
Please join us in these efforts — we are stronger together and collectively, we can make a difference.
