Chief People & Culture Officer

As Chief People and Culture Officer, Rick leads our organization’s people strategy to foster a thriving, inclusive, and high-performing culture. His role centers on aligning our talent initiatives with our mission, driving employee engagement, and strengthening organizational effectiveness. He is deeply passionate about finding the right talent and believes that people are the most valuable asset in any enterprise, whether non-profit or for-profit, as it is people who drive innovation, impact, and sustainability.

Rick brings extensive human resources experience from both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. Prior to JVS, he served as Chief People Officer at StepStone Hospitality for over 10 years, where he focused on organizational growth through people-centered strategies. His previous affiliations include Crestline Hotels and Resorts and the American Red Cross National Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Throughout his career, Rick has remained committed to building strong, value-driven teams and nurturing workplace cultures where people can excel.

Rick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from George Mason University and a Masters in Human Resource Management from Marymount University. Additionally, he holds two professional designations: Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the HR Certification Institute, and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from the Society for Human Resource Management.
