Nurse’s Aide Training Program

Classes are filling up fast for our next programs, which begin on May 24 (Spaulding Rehabilitation Network) and June 21 (Caring for Our Seniors). So don’t wait and apply today!

Are you interested in entering the healthcare field? JVS can help you launch your career as a nurse’s aide. We offer 6-week and 14-week training options.

About the 14-week training:

  • Serves non-native, Intermediate level English speakers
  • Includes 100 hours of ESOL training in addition to aide training
  • Prepares students to pass the American Red Cross Nursing Assistant Test to become Certified Nursing Assistants
  • Specializes in training aides in long-term care through classroom instructions and hands-on clinical experience
  • Includes individualized job coaching and placement services
  • JVS has strong relationships with many healthcare providers in Massachusetts and we will work with you to find a successful job placement after graduation

About the 6-week training:  

  • Serves Advanced or Fluent English speakers – this training does not include any ESOL classes
  • Prepares students to pass the American Red Cross Nursing Assistant Test to become Certified Nursing Assistants
  • Includes individualized job coaching
  • Guarantees a full-time job with benefits at participating hospitals for students who successfully complete the program.

These training programs are offered at no cost to those who are selected to participate.

In these courses, you will learn:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Medical terminology and anatomy
  • Healthcare customer service
  • Specialized skills for working with frail elders (for 14-week training only)
  • Specialized skills for working in a hospital setting (for 6-week training only)
  • English language skills (for 14-week training only)
  • Everything you’ll need to know to pass the state nursing assistant exam

Training Requirements:

  • Non-native English speakers should have at least an intermediate level of English
  • High-school diploma or equivalent (required for the 6-week training only)
  • Must be able to participate in a criminal record screening (CORI) and drug screening
  • At least 3 months of prior work experience is preferred
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. without restrictions as the job is physically demanding

Please be aware that you are not eligible for this training program if you are currently enrolled in nursing school or any other similar program.
